Mandarin Counterparts
We have heard a lot of Mandarin in our house over the
last two weeks - like A LOT. Yesterday Maeli got on a Zoom call with her
teacher & started spouting off in Mandarin while laughing &
looking at me. Her & the teacher laughed at whatever she said &
then she walked out of the room. I looked over & saw Milo laughing
as well so I asked him what they said. He responded that they were
joking about how I had gotten mad at Maeli for something she had done
the day before. It was in that moment that I realized the magnitude of
what we‘ve done - we have gifted the enemy their own secret language.
I’m so glad these kids have the opportunity to learn another language
but I fear this is just the beginning of us being outsmarted by our
little Mandarin-speaking counterparts.
