This year we took our gingerbread-making pretty seriously. After all, gingerbread men and women need homes too.
To commemorate our 4 year anniversary, I thought the best way to tell Ryan that I love him would be to pay tribute to what a great dad he is. Especially since nothing makes me love him more than seeing him with our little girl.
As each day goes by, it becomes more and more apparent that Maeli is an ABSOLUTE daddy's girl! She doesn't even care what they're doing as long as her Dad is holding her.
On weekends when Maeli wakes up early, Ryan likes to pull her into bed with him. Ryan thinks that it's their time to nap together. Little does he know that half the time she just lays there and smiles.
I always thought that I would be Ryan's #1 girl, but these days I'm thinking it's okay to be #2. Thanks for being such a great husband and father. We love you Ry!
This year we spent the Thanksgiving holiday in Spokane with Ryan's family. One highlight of the trip was getting to meet Maeli's new cousin, Ainsley. While her new partner in crime is a bit younger at 5 weeks old, they seemed to enjoy their "bonding" time. ;-)
In our 9 days in Spokane, we got over a foot of snow. Although it was extremely cold, the snow made for tons of fun with the kids!
With all of the family around, Ryan and I didn't see much of Maeli. If she wasn't eating or sleeping, she was ALWAYS being held by someone in the family. There is definitely no shortage of love for this girl!
As always, our time in Spokane was a total blast! It was fun getting to spend the holiday with family and friends. We're already counting down to our next visit!
Today was Maeli's first day in the snow. She got bundled up and braved the cold with mom and dad.
She tasted snow for the first time...
...and liked it (we think).
She wasn't a huge fan of the cold...
...but overall we think she enjoyed it.
It's officially that time of the year again which means we'll soon be heading to Spokane to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with Ryan's family. The bags are packed and we are prepping for some seriously cold weather! Hope we're not forgetting anything... ;-)
While Maeli used to be a big fan of her binky, she has recently replaced it with a "new and improved" pacifier. We've actually been pretty pleased with her new technique since it relieves us from having to constantly get up to put the binky back in her mouth. I just wish she would've thought of this sooner!
Maeli has recently found her voice and LOVES to talk! She's even started to mimic sounds that we make. Every time she is able to push out a sound she gets super excited and laughs. It looks like we've got a little chatterbox on our hands!
Since Maeli tends to always be fussy around the same few friends, I wanted to post a few pictures of her smiling to prove that she's not always unhappy. I told you she doesn't ALWAYS cry! ;-)
I don't know when exactly it happened, but Maeli has officially transitioned from a newborn to an infant. I think the best word to describe her at this point would be "alert." Sleep is no longer a priority and she never wants to miss out on any of the action!
While bbqing with family on Labor Day, we decided to take Maeli for her first swim in the pool. Surprisingly, she actually loved the water. After taking a dip in the pool she laid out for a while enjoying the warm weather. She's a true Arizona girl!
What do you do when you want to weigh a baby and don't have a scale?
If we would've known you could get these things at the grocery store, we would've gotten one years ago!
