Touring Central Europe - Day 5

Stop 15 - Hills of Moravia: On our way to Vienna the next morning we took a detour through the hills of Moravia. We don't have a zoom lens so we weren't able to capture the hills in all their glory, but the hills were truly breathtaking. The hills were covered with crops and seemed to go on forever.

Stop 16 - Mikulov: After completing our drive through Moravia we drove through the area around Mikulov to view the Czech wine country.

Stop 17 - Schonbroon Zoo: After several days of traveling and spending way to much time in the car, we decided to change our itinerary and make a visit to the Schonbroon Zoo. Known to be the oldest zoo in the world, Schonbroon is different from most zoos as much of its historic past can still be seen throughout the zoo today. The kids had so much fun running to the various animal enclosures and seeing the animals in their habitats. The highlights for them were watching the tigers and jaguars get fed and seeing the pandas and alligators.

Stop 18 - Vienna City Centre: After the zoo we went into the city and grabbed some dinner before taking a quick stroll through the city centre.

Touring Central Europe - Day 4

Stop 12 - Oskar Schindler's Enamel Factory: Since we didn't have time to tour the Schindler's Factory the previous day, we decided to fit it in before leaving Krakow the next morning.

Stop 13 - Auschwitz Concentration Camp: Next we headed to Oświęcim to visit the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps. Our experience here was totally indescribable. The stories that we read and the things that we saw will forever be engrained in our minds. As we held the kids in our arms and walked through the gas chambers, we left with gratitude in our hearts and a greater resolve to be a little bit better.

Stop 14 - Olomouc, Czech Republic: After leaving Auschwitz we began our drive to Brno. On the way we stopped for dinner in Olomouc and got to see the incredible town square all lit up.

Touring Central Europe - Day 3

Stop 11 - Wieliczka Salt Mine: After getting up early, we began our long drive to Krakow to visit the Wieliczka Salt Mine. The mine was incredible and unlike anything we have ever seen. Although the tour was two hours long, the kids did great and Maeli enjoyed using my phone to take her own pictures. The highlight of the tour was the Chapel of Saint Kinga, where we were treated to a rarely seen light show.
